Bad Weather Policy & Emergency Procedures - Jan 2010 Print

Wherever possible we will endeavour to maintain a normally run school day.
Where exceptional weather prevails we will offer as effective a service as possible, inconveniencing students and parents as little as possible.

If conditions are such that more dramatic action is called for – staff unable to get into school, heating/kitchen failure - the following measures will come into being:

If the school is to close . . . . .

A letter will be handed, via the office manager, to any student who arrives on the morning in question.

Starting with Y7 every home in the school will be contacted and updated as to the current and likely situation.

In the event of sustained bad weather, full use will be made of  . . . .

  • local radio
  • school’s web site and portal
  • internal email system which can be accessed via the school web site
  • The telephone system.
